spring trends to jump on now

it’s still the dead of winter, but that doesn’t mean we can’t start adopting some spring trends now! today’s post is all about the spring trends you can jump on now, incorporating some of the best trends for spring into your wardrobe. “but how? it’s still freezing” you may ask, especially if you live in the midwest. well, let me tell you my friends, there ares some easy tips and tricks to starting your spring style now, which i will get to at the end of this post. but first, spring style trends you can adopt ASAP:

florals

FLORALS, FOR SPRING? groundbreaking. i know, i know, but we all know that no matter what, florals are a spring thing. it just matters how you do it, you know? you can go from glam to grannie in .02 seconds flat, so if you want to do it right, there area couple of important things to remember when doing florals right:

  • if you are going to print-pair, opt for the opposite scale. large leopard print? small flower details. skinny stripes? large flowers.
  • be creative with the colors. sometimes a black and white color palette is the perfect backdrop to pair with florals, otherwise don’t be afraid to add a pop of color in there! if there’s color running in your floral color scheme, pull one or two colors and make them stand out in your accessories.
  • have fun with it. the biggest lesson i’ve learned with pulling off trends, no matter what trend, is that if you think you’re doing it right, you’re doing it right. your confidence is what really makes it work.

tie dye

tie dye had a small moment last year, but we will be seeing it EVERYWHERE come spring/summer 2020. it’s an additional fun print to add into your “leopard/stripe/plaid/floral” repository to print mix, and i’m SO looking forward to a grown up version of what can otherwise look like the shirt you DIY’d at summer camp. how to do tie dye:

  • there are a ton of tie dye sweatshirts out there, which would be perfect with a striped long sleeve shirt peeking out underneath.
  • tie dye can be inherently casual, so dress it up by having the print on a skirt or dressing up a tie dye top with some faux leather bottoms.

puffy sleeves

the sleeve detail is here to stay; hallelujah! this is by far one of my favorite trends of late, and i’m happy to see that it’s not going anywhere.

oversized “roomy” blazers

i’m so excited about this one. oversized blazers have been ‘in’ for a while now, and i’m glad to see they’re going to remain a staple as we continue on into spring.

how to wear spring trends now

especially if you live in colder climates, it can sometimes be intimidating to want to start wearing spring trends. there are a couple of ways that i’ve found to be able to incorporate them while, you know, not getting frostbite.

  • layer! throw a fur vest or a leather jacket over your floral dress, wear a turtleneck under that blazer. layering is also perfect for those days when it starts out cool and ends up twenty degrees warmer by the end of the day
  • sweatshirts, but make them fancy. instead of doing a sweatshirt and jeans combo, dress up the sweatshirt by pairing it with a skirt or over a dress.
  • get keen on color palate. butter yellow to neon, you can translate any of these into instant spring by bringing in some color. this allows you to wear heavier materials while still feeling spring-y.

most of all, just remember that if you wear it with confidence, it totally works! there are a number of spring trends that are making their appearance, but here are the ones i’m going to jump on ASAP.
